Konica Minolta presents its new variable data publishing (VDP) application, Printgroove VDP Darwin. It enables professional printers and print service providers to personalise documents fast and easily. With this software, which will be available from January 2008, they can enter the area of one-to-one marketing by producing unique content, such as personalised brochures, marketing and direct mailings. Thanks to its efficient plug-in technology, Printgroove VDP Darwin integrates seamlessly with QuarkXPress and InDesign. The more advanced Darwin version of the new Konica Minolta application, Printgroove VDP Darwin Pro, offers special features and enhanced functionality.

With the new Printgroove VDP Darwin, Konica Minolta enables fast and simple personalisation of any element in a document: text, graphics, colour, charts, layout, character style, background – even entire pages can be variable. So professional (digital) printers and print service providers can create customised communication materials for variable data campaigns very efficiently. Printgroove VDP Darwin fully integrates into QuarkXpress (in Mac OS X) and Adobe InDesign (in Mac OS and Windows) so that you can use the comprehensive functionality of both applications available for designing personalised documents.

“Variable data publishing becomes a simple and intuitive task with Printgroove VDP Darwin. Darwin supports simple and complex VDP jobs with many changes in variable elements without the need for scripting or programming,” explains Achim Ricks, Business Development Manager, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “The plug-in technology means that users can create sophisticated personalised communications in the application with which they are familiar. So it does not take much effort to get used to working with the new VDP software.”

Konica Minolta Printgroove VDP Darwin includes all of the features needed to design, author and manage personalised documents of any length and complexity. The comprehensive functionality facilitates the creation of full-colour VDP masters for personalised print jobs: images, colours and other details can be selected automatically in correspondence to typical user preferences as specified in a database. The new Printgroove software can be connected easily to existing databases and supports different industry-leading output formats.

Additionally, Printgroove VDP Darwin Pro is equipped with a range of enhanced functionalities to further streamline VDP production. An example is the creation of personalised images, dynamic charts creation and multiple barcode type support. Darwin also supports personalised URLs in cooperation with leading PURL engine providers.
